Dear BPW Colleagues, |
| |

Every day I hear many women complain, including myself, that
there just isn't enough time to get everything done. I
understand the metaphysical reasons for this phenomenon but in
this physical world is isn't always easy to handle. It is
difficult to get the family up and going, do the eight plus
hours of work, do the dinner, keep the home clean, volunteer in
the community, pay the bills, grocery shop, do the laundry,
blah, blah, blah..
I teach many classes, I coach many clients, and I try to be a
good support to friends and family. One true thread that runs
through all of this talking and sharing is, you can only do your
best. That's right folks, you can only do a reasonable amount of
things in a set period, you can only complete so many tasks or
so many meetings in a 24 hour period. Makes a lot of common
sense. But, how many times are you judging yourself for falling
short? How many times do you "should" on yourself? I should do
this or I should have completed that?
We can't be everything to everybody. As much as many of us would
like to believe we are super human, and we need little to no
down time, we need to slow down and give ourselves some slack.
As you can read I am speaking about myself also.
One thing I am sure of and you can quote this, all you can do
is, (drum roll please) is your best! Yes, that is right, your
best. Some days will be better than others and some days you
will know you could have done better. But you can't do more than
that, YOUR best. So, the next time your are running around,
judging yourself, "shoulding" on yourself, or wishing your day
away with tasks that make no difference in the long run, take a
breather and give yourself a break. You are a multitalented,
dynamic, intelligent person who cares for others, gives of the
heart and understands the human experience enough to know: that
a healthy person is not self destructive, a self confident
person lives by example rather than lecturing, a human in
balance knows that when they take care of themselves they are
actually able to achieve more and care for others from a place
of love and desires rather than expectation and demands.
All you need to ever ask of others or yourself is YOUR BEST.
With great sincerity,
Barb Tremlett
BPW of Nashua
President 2010-2011
