    Dear BPW Colleagues,
 
Susan Weidner Cooke, President Recently I got a letter from a woman in Pennsylvania whose daughter was about to move to southern NH. She is a member of the BPW in her state and wanted information on our organization so when her daughter moved here she would be able to immediately meet other workingwomen. What a wonderful way to move to a new community and immediately meet people! This is what our organization is about, meeting women and offering support.

I challenge each of you to reach out to another woman in the community and invite them to our next meeting. Through our meeting they will be able to meet others and begin to form business contacts and friendships. Our meetings now start with informal networking at 11:00 to offer this extra time to get to know others and their businesses. Lunch is served around 11:30 with the speaker beginning between 11:15 and 11:30. After the speaker there is more time to talk with the other members.

We are in the process of looking for individuals to serve on the Board. I am hoping the current Committee Chairs and Members will continue their roles for another year. We are, though, looking for some one to serve as Vice President for a year in preparation to take over President in the fall of 2009. If you are interested, or want to nominate someone, please call me at 578-9899 X203.

I want to bring your attention to the Expo coming in June. Further information is available on our website and in this newsletter.

In May, Lisa Allen will join us as she describes her "Adventures in Creating a Buzz!" Lisa walks us from writing a book to distribution of that book. Her adventures have led her to social networks and blogs and she is excited to share her experience with us. Come learn what can happen when you are open to new ideas in marketing.     Notes from the Secretary
 
 
The Greater Nashua BPW Board met on April 22nd. The following decisions were made:
  • The Board will host a picnic or cookout event held on July 17th in the regular 3rd Thursday time slot at The Holistic Self Care Center. The event will be free to attendees. More details next month.
  • At future meetings, the Membership Chair will introduce new members and present them with their pin
  • The purchase of business cards for the Membership Chair was approved.

Other discussion topics included:

  • Plans for the Chapter Expo on June 12th.
  • Candidates for chapter officers for next year.
  • Program plans for the fall.
  • Participation in next year's Chamber Expo
  • Donations for Speaker Baskets
